Troubadours w/ Ramaya Soskin. A monthly songwriter showcase featuring local musicians from the Boulder / Denver area. This month featuring Dechen Hawk, Kate Farmer, Alexandra Schwan and Jeb Bows.

You'll find the Troubadours every 1st Thursday of the month at Roots Music Project! Join us next month on July 6th with featured performers Clay Rose, Max Davies and Toni Oswald.

The Troubadours: “There is something downright spiritual happening in the music scene in Boulder. John Lennon asked us to imagine so many concepts of living life in peace, as one. And Boulder’s Troubadours is the personification of a music community sharing such big love for each other that the Collective has become larger than the individuals in it.” -Elephant Journal. "It's the best of the local flavor in a myriad of expression, all in one place" -Boulder Weekly.

The Troubadours showcases have been presented monthly for 18+ years at local Boulder venues such as the Fox Theater, Trilogy, B.side Lounge, Shine, The Laughing Goat and The Roots Music Project. Troubadours Alumni include such acts as Gregory Alan Isakov, Megan Burtt, Daniel Rodriguez, Clay Rose, Sturtz, Paul Kimbiris, Dechen Hawk, Thom Lafond, Max Davies, Toni Oswald, Alexandra Schwann and Kate Farmer among many others.

This month's featured artists:

Dechen Hawk: Like Stevie Wonder and Jeff Buckley thrown in a blender, Indie Soul Balladeer Dechen Hawk creates music that ranges from beautiful ballads to gritty throwback funk and soul. He believes conscious music has the power to heal and transform humanity for the better. Hawk's call pierces the state of unawareness and asks you to speak the truth. Though musical his whole life, it wasn’t until the death of his father when he was 14, and the search for a way to express that loss, that Hawk found his calling as a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. His desire to create and express the joy and fragility of life has kept him busy for the past 25 years performing locally and internationally. His work creates community by bringing people together from all walks of life to do something they all have in common and enjoy. https://dechenhawk.com/home

Kate Farmer: Raised in the small community of Jamestown, CO, Kate Farmer can’t remember a time she wasn’t immersed in music. She grew up listening to her mother’s clear falsetto harmonizing with Nanci Griffith, Alison Krauss and Bonnie Raitt, instilling in her a deep love of strong female voices and heartfelt songwriting. After much encouragement at a young age, her first performance was at 9 years old where she brought several hippies to tears…and she hasn’t stopped since. Continuing to combine her love of family and community with music, Kate performs as one half of The Farmer Sisters with her sister Sara Jane, and as a member of The Constellation Collective. Writing original songs on her acoustic guitar, her style feels soulful and bluesy with folk and Americana influences. In any genre, her voice alone could make you cry. https://www.soundcloud.com/katefarmermusic

Ramaya Soskin featuring Kate Farmer, Alexandra Schwan and Jeb Bows: "Blending echoes of Iron & Wine, Jeff Buckley and Ryan Adams", the music of Ramaya Soskin has captured the imagination of listeners with uniquely soothing cinematic songs. A veteran of the Boulder / Denver music scene, he’s performed at venues such as Red Rocks, the Fillmore, and the Boulder Theater. As a former member of Gregory Alan Isakov’s band he toured with artists such as Nathaniel Rateliff, Glen Hansard and Brandi Carlile throughout the US and Europe. Founder and curator of a monthly local songwriters showcase called Troubadours (18+ years), he is also a music mentor to young aspiring artists. With touching tales of love, loss & illumination, a sonic Hero’s Journey, his music holds a mirror to the heart. http://ramayasoskin.com
